7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 5)

YAY!  It's Friday!!  And it's time for 7 Quick Takes!   Check out Conversion Diary over here!  As usual, I'm just going to spout off the first 7 things about my week that come to mind - no rhyme or reason here.

1. I have an addictive personality...I don't mean people get addicted to me, I mean I easily become addicted to things.  Don't misunderstand, I've never had any serious addictions - but when I love something, it's easy for me to get addicted...in particular, electronic games.  Yesterday I discovered Dr. Mario on my sons DSi and I couldn't put it down last night.  I played until the batter died.  Bad!

2.  The weather this week is making me crazy!  I love cold weather.  I love it much more than hot weather.  This week...well, our temperatures have gone from the 30's to the 70's and back to the 30's.  It's such a pain!  Two days ago I had our AC on (it was in the 70's and humid - Yuck!).  Yesterday, it was so beautiful, I turned our central unit off.  Today, we woke up freezing because I forgot to turn it back on and it was 39°.  Whew!

3.  We're super excited around here about the NFL games this weekend - especially the Saints vs. Vikings!  I'm torn though.  Being a southern girl, I feel compelled to cheer for the always 'almost there' Saints.  However, Brett (Favre) is from Mississippi and he's awesome and I really want to pull for him too!   Hmmm...either way it's going to be a fun game!

4.  Haiti - I've cried and cringed and been so deeply saddened by all that has happened there.  There have been moments of elation when someone was miraculously rescued, but overall, the images have been too much.  I finally had to make myself stop watching the news and reading the stories and looking at the pictures online.   My spirit just feels so crushed to see such devastation.

5.  On a lighter note, my hubby finally took down the Christmas lights this week (the ones outside).  We had packed up everything else a couple of weeks ago, but just kept putting off/forgetting the outside stuff.  I didn't want to end up a redneck who has them still up at Easter, so I nagged and nagged  reminded my hubby until he finally got it done!  *No one needs to mention that I could've done it myself.  Nope, no one needs to mention that!

6.  Kids will argue about ANYTHING!
Is this a stick, Mommy?
Yes, Noah.
But I don't want it to be and they {siblings} keep saying it is.  I want it to be wood.
It is wood, Noah - you can call it that.
But is it a stick?  Yes, Noah, it is a stick too.
But I don't want it to be!!!  (in the whiniest voice EVER!)

7.  I started 3 new books this week.  I've been on a reading 'kick' lately - craving good book time.  The last 2-3 books I've read have been fiction - I'm delving into more 'useful' things this week.  I started reading Fasting by Jentezen Franklin, Hearing from God Each Morning by Joyce Meyer (a new devotional), and finally (and reluctantly) Denise's Daily Dozen by Denise Austin.  Yes, it's a diet/exercise book.  Yes, I'm reading it.  Unfortunately, no, reading it alone will not lead to weight loss.  Oh well.

  1. Wouldn't it be nice if the discipline to read the weight loss book prpvided the results?
