Anyway, so, there I stand in the grocery aisle, with my FREE Kashi Cereal deal looming, debating what flavor I might
After all, it looked a little like Cheerios (which they love), it was also "Honey Toasted", so I'm thinking "Honey Nut Cheerios", and lastly, it also had these cutesy little heart shaped pieces in it. Surely they'll try this...right? Maybe even like it?
Well, I get it home and a few mornings later, decide today's the day we'll break out the new cereal! As I'm pouring the bowls, I noted (under my breath), "Wow, this reminds me of Cowboy's {our cat} food". I didn't know Sarah heard me. But she did. And like any child with exciting news...she runs to her siblings and yells...."We're gonna eat CAT FOOD cereal for breakfast!!!!".
They all came running to the kitchen dying to see the new cereal! Now, I don't know if it resembles cat food to anyone else, or why my mind went there. But that's the first thing that popped into my head. Then I said it, she heard it, and Kashi Heart to Heart Honey Toasted Oats is officially renamed "Cat Food Cereal" in our house. Yay (sarcastically).
Now let me add here - they really like the cereal! They eat it without complaining or even asking for sugar on it (a standard request for any cereal that they find yucky).
I was reminded of this whole story this morning...and thought I needed to share it with all of you (yeah, okay). Anyway, remember a couple of weeks ago when I had a coupon for some FREE Kashi cereal? I bought the Honey Toasted Oats again because I knew they'd eat it. Unfortunately, the name has stuck.
When the kids got up this morning and asked what was for breakfast, I said, "Cereal." They asked what kind and I said, "We only have one kind...the Kashi." Sarah says, "Oh, the cat food cereal. Okay."
So, if you ever hear my kids say they're eating cat food for breakfast...please rest assured that it's not real cat food, but rather a very healthy real cereal - that Mommy just happened to mention one morning, many months ago, might look like cat food! Oh, brother!
