Over the weekend, I started craving Cheesecake. Well, I didn't have enough cream cheese to make a real cheesecake (I use 2+ pounds when I make a
real cheesecake), so I started perusing my recipes for a recipe that would 'hit the spot' for me. I finally decided on these Creamy Butter Bars. They have cream cheese in them, and a yummy, yummy crust, and sure enough, they satisfied me! However, I must say, they are waaaaay sweeter than cheesecake, so I can't eat nearly as much when I make this. Is that a bad or good things? Hmmm, things to consider.
Creamy Butter Bars
- 1 yellow cake mix (I prefer Pillsbury)
- 1 stick of real butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 8oz. Box of Cream Cheese, softened
- 2 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Mix the first 3 ingredients together in a bowl (it will be a little dry and crumbly). Press into a greased 9"X13" pan. Mix the next 4 ingredients together in a bowl. Spread over the cake mix until smooth. Resist the urge to lick the bowl clean!
Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes. Allow to cool, then cut into squares!
Enjoy!!
Sounds really yummy. I'm going to try some for dessert tonight.
