Works for Me Wednesday:: Cleaning Out My Coupons

It's such a sick feeling to make a list, work out your deal, dig out your coupons, go shopping, and then get to the register to discover your coupon is expired.  It stinks!

So, around the 1st of each month, I spend a few minutes cleaning out my coupon binder so that I can avoid that scenario.  I flip through each page of my coupons and quickly scan the date on each one of them, pulling out the expired ones.  If there are some very near expiration, I'll pull those out and put those in the pocket up front so that if I don't use them within the few days til they expire, I can toss them too!  Actually, I might not be tossing them anymore after I was reminded of these programs last week - where I can donate to overseas military families.  This works for me because it saves me tons of frustration at the checkout lane!

  1. I gather up my about-to-expire coupons at the end of each month and file them under 'use 'em or lose 'em.' Sometimes, if I don't get a deal, I'll just throw the coupon away. But it would be a shame to miss out on a great buy because I forgot a coupon was about to expire!
