UpperCaseLiving Vinyl Photo Prints - Look at what I won!

First and foremost…let me explain this picture and this post. The post is about the crooked Vinyl Photo Print of my kids that you see above. That guy? He’s not my husband. Honestly, I’ve never met him before! But my husband (who took these pics for me) decided that the the picture of the prints needed more ‘dimension’ so he asked a coworker (thanks Robert) to pose with the prints. He agreed. Wasn’t that nice? Are you confused yet?  Oh, and why did we take the pics at my husband’s place of employment? Well, because we live in an old house – a rental house – and it has paneled walls. And it seems that everyone we know here has paneled walls as well. Oh, the joys of small towns and old houses! Anyway, paneled walls are NOT good walls for the vinyl prints. So…my sweet husband took the prints to work!  Have I mentioned before that I ramble?

Okay – that out of the way…now the post.  I have to be honest here, I had never heard of Upper Case Living before I read about them Carrie’s blog when she had the giveaway. But since I love to win stuff and I love photos (especially FREE ones), I entered to win one and… I won! I was super-excited about my prize, but didn’t get to order it right away.

You see, my 4 year old Noah, decided to cut huge chunks out of his hair within days of my winning. My kids have cut their hair before, but it had been years since one of them cut it so severely that I had to completely shave their head. I mean, he barely had peach fuzz left on his head.

So it suddenly wasn’t my favorite idea to take his picture for a Vinyl Wall Print that I’d keep forever…you know? I wanted to take the kids out in the beautiful fall weather and get some great pics by the fence and under the tree and, strangely enough, I wanted them to all have HAIR. Oh well. I emailed Kathy at Upper Case Living and she kindly agreed to give me a few weeks to let his hair grow. It still wasn’t as long as I preferred (and since it's blonde, it's hard to see anyway), but it turned out to be a really good picture in my opinion. So…here’s one of the pictures I won:

It’s hard to get perspective on this picture, so let me try to describe it. This is a contour cut Vinyl Photo Print. It came with backing on it that was peeled away to stick it on the wall. This print is 2’X3’…that’s BIG!  You can tell how big compared to Robert (top pic).

I actually won a 4’X6’ print valued at $89.95, but Kathy said I could spend that $90 anyway I wanted, so I got (2) 2’X3’ prints! Here’s the second print I had done:

It’s not a contour cut print – it’s actually rectangular because if we had contour cut it, it would’ve looked like we were sitting on..well, nothing. It is the picture you see on my ‘About Me’ page and it was taken on our vacation to Washington DC. See Noah? He had a little more hair then, not much...but a little more!

Adventures in Earning: GlobalTestMarket Surveys

 

I don't earn much money from home, I generally focus on saving whenever possible and stretching what we already have with rebates and coupons. But I do earn a little here and there - generally from taking surveys from many different companies, and also from places like InboxDollars and MyPoints.

You won't get rich doing this...last year I earned around $600 taking surveys that come in my email. That's not a lot of money, but it's also an easy way to earn from home, that takes a small investment of my time. I can take them while my kids do schoolwork, or while drinking my morning Diet Coke (my substitute for coffee).

Anyway, one company that offers cash for surveys is GlobalTestMarket.  Honestly, I used to surveys from this company, but somehow my account became inactive.  I can't give you an honest 'current' opinion on the company, but I don't remember anything negative about them and I'm certain they're reputable!  So if you're interested in earning a little here and there - click on the image above or sign up here and give them a try!

7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 10)

YAY!  It's Friday!!  And it's time for 7 Quick Takes!   Check out Conversion Diary over here!  As usual, I'm just going to spout off the first 7 things about my week that come to mind - no rhyme or reason here.

1.  I won not one, but two blog giveaways this week!  I won a $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook and a ticket to the Heart of the Matter (online) Homeschool Conference!  I couldn't believe it!!  I'm thrilled about the cookbook!  I think I'll pick a recipe (or two or three) and cook them, then show you!  As for the homeschool conference, well, I could've kicked myself.  I entered the giveaway last week, but then due to my oldest son having a bike wreck that ended with lots of blood gushing from his head on Saturday, then my 4 and 6 year olds getting a stomach/fever virus on Sunday and Monday...well, I didn't really keep up with all the blogs I regularly check.  So....I didn't find out I had won until Tuesday night...when the conference was half-way over!  Thank goodness, I'll be able to review it all via MP3 recording next week!  Thanks to Sprittibee and We are THAT Family for the awesome giveaways!

2.  Speaking of giveaways - I finally got a picture of a prize I won many months ago.  I'll tell you about it later this week - but here it is...it's a Vinyl Wall Photo Print...2' X 3'...isn't that cool?

3.  I mentioned in #1 that my son had a bike wreck.  It was a nasty ordeal.  He was trying to ramp - or rather he did ramp, then he was going really fast, hit a hole, flipped his bike and somehow ended up with 2 gashes in his head.   I mean, blood oozing through his fingers, covering the side of his face, dripping off his chin BAD.  But he's okay now.  It's healing beautifully and he only complains now when we have to change the bandage.

4.  My husband and I are starting a new Crown class in 2 weeks.  If you aren't familiar with Crown, it's a Bible-based financial class.  We took the class about 8 years ago (when I was pregnant with Caleb - that's how I remember), then we became leaders and we've taught it 3 times since then.  It's wonderful - it's why we're debt-free.  We are super excited to be teaching it again - in fact, we had enough students signed up that we have already planned to start the 10 week class again as soon as this 10 week cycle is done!  Yay!

5.  I got a new book in the mail this week - The Cake Doctor Returns.  Mmmmmm.  Maybe I'll bake something for you this week!

6.  Speaking of baking...I told you last week that I wanted to do some baking this week.  I only baked once - but these Sour Cream Banana Muffins were wonderful!

Oh, and I made about 2 weeks worth of breakfast for my husband.  I just cooked up a batch of biscuits, fried some fresh sausage, put them together and froze them.  He can just pop one out each morning and microwave it and bam - hot breakfast!

 

7.  My laundry has taken over.  Well, it's clean laundry - I wash and dry everyday.  I just can't seem to make myself fold it everyday.  I guess I  need to wrap this up and get to it.  Uh-huh, I do.  When my husband and kids stop looking for socks in their drawers and start coming straight to the baskets piled everywhere, I know I've gotten behind!  Oh well - at least they're clean!

Have you ever rented from Redbox? If not (and renting movies is something you enjoy), you should definitely try out Redbox. Movies are always only $1 per night.  When we didn't live so far out in the country, we would rent movies at Redbox on a regular basis!  Even if we kept it more than one night, it was way cheaper than the other video stores!

Plus, they often put out codes for FREE rentals and I'm all about FREE!  One other fun thing is that you can go to Redbox online, pick the Redbox where you want to rent (around here they're in all the Walmarts and outside of Walgreens), enter your credit/debit card online and reserve the movie from home!  You can't reserve a movie from home and use a FREE rental code, but reserving is a good way to make sure the movie you're wanting to see will be there when you get there (like a new release).

Okay, so right now you can use code V7J6D4V for a free 1 day movie rental.  The code is valid until March 14th!  Oh, and often you can use a code once per debit/credit card.  So if you have multiple cards, you may be able to get multiple FREE movies!
