*FREE* Access to American Sign Language University ($450 Value)
If you've ever been interested in learning sign language or teaching it to your children... this is a fantastic opportunity! You can get FREE Access to the official American Sign Language University here. This online curriculum includes FREE lessons for students, teachers, interpreters, and anyone else interested in learning ASL. These lessons are FREE to use for personal study and teachers have permission to use the lessons in classes. Both courses are complete and accredited!
I'm super excited about this! I had a very close friend throughout my school years who was deaf. I've known sign language for as long as I can remember (although I'm quite rusty now) and I would love to teach it to my children as part of our homeschool curriculum.
In fact, over the past few years I've bought 2 different sign language books intending to teach my kids, but it keeps getting pushed off the priority list...maybe this time I'll follow through!
Be sure to check out other homeschool resources I recommend here (freebies and things you can buy!).

*HOT* Deals at Kohl's with 32% Off Entire Order + 4% Cash Back + $.99 per item Shipping (Clearance Included!)
Is that title long enough for you? Just checking... =)
Well, I told you about a Kohl's sale a couple of days ago, and it seems to be even sweeter today! As you know, I'm pregnant..unexpectedly, and since I had gotten rid of every stitch of maternity clothes I ever owned...I'm now having to buy more!
Well, maternity clothes are expensive - so I've been keeping my eyes open for sales so I can build a very basic wardrobe to get me through this pregnancy. A few weeks ago, I got me a pair of maternity jeans with a sweet JCP deal...and today I just ordered the above $30 Maternity t-shirt for only $6.12 (who would pay $30 for a tshirt in the first place?).
Anyway, here's how to get the deal:
Start by shopping in the Kohl's Clearance Department. There are tons of great deals over there!
When you get ready to go through check out, first use code UTAKE20 to get 20% off your entire order. Next use code AUGUSTLPS to get another 15% off. The box to enter these codes is on the bottom left of the same page where they ask for your payment information - you can enter both codes!
When you checkout, your shipping will be $.99 per item and you'll have any applicable sales tax added!
You can score some great stuff for up to 90% off after the sales and coupons! Whoo-Hoo!
If you want to make this deal even sweeter, be sure to shop through Ebates. You'll get a $5 Sign-Up bonus if you're new + 4% Cash Back on your purchase. Just create your account at Ebates or login if you're already a member, and search for JCPenney. Then click through that link to start shopping!

Bacon & Tomato Ranch Pasta Salad
If you're visiting AdventuresinSavings.com to see my recipes or cakes, you can scroll through all of my cakes posts here, my recipe posts here, visit my cakes page or recipes page , and "like" my new Facebook page "Rose Bakes" here.
I mentioned in our Meal Plan this week that I would be making this pasta salad for supper one night and I wanted to share the recipe with you! It's a family favorite for sure and so easy to make! It's best if you can make it early in the day so that it can get cold (or at least part of it...read on), but it's also delicious at room temperature!
This is by no means a difficult or totally "from scratch" recipe (see Ranch dressing below)...but here's how I do it...
Ranch Dressing...
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup milk
1 cup sour cream
1 package Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix
(or 3 Tbsp. if you buy it in the canister like I do!)
Mix all ingredients together and let it chill for a bit to thicken up. The "normal" ranch dressing doesn't have the sour cream in it, but when you add the sour cream, the dressing is thicker and creamier and it holds onto the pasta better. Which is a good thing!
For the pasta salad...
1-2 large fresh tomatoes, petite diced
1 lb. bacon, fried crisp, drained, cooled, and chopped
1 lb. pasta, cooked, drained & cooled - I prefer Rotini
A generous shake of salt & pepper
So, after you've diced the tomatoes, and cooked and cooled the bacon and pasta, it's simple. In a large bowl, add in all the ingredients (tomatoes, bacon, pasta, salt & pepper), then pour about 2 cups of the of the Ranch dressing over the top. Toss and coat all ingredients until you have a creamy pasta salad.
If you're preparing this ahead of time, you can add the dressing, salt, and pepper to the pasta salad and let it chill for a few hours or overnight, but always save the bacon and tomatoes and mix them in right before serving (so they stay crisp and don't get soggy). You can have them all cooked, diced, etc. and ready to go...just don't add them in yet!
You may need to add more Ranch if you let it chill first (the pasta seems to absorb the dressing the longer it sits), but does anyone object to extra Ranch dressing? Not me!!
This recipe easily serves our family of 7 one meal - with no leftovers. Now, ya'll know I love to have some leftovers...they're in my meal plan every week! But, this is not one of my favorite recipes for leftovers... remember, if the bacon and tomato are mixed in, they tend to get soggy after just a few hours and that's just not as yummy as crunchy bacon and fresh tomato.
But, if you don't mind that, then by all means double the recipe and eat it the next day! Or double it and take it to a church potluck...it's always a HUGE hit!
That's it! Super easy - super delicious! Enjoy!

7 Quick Takes Friday :: Volume 27
Wow, it's Friday already..and it's time for 7 Quick Takes Friday! Be sure to visit Conversion Diary to read more Quick Takes. In the meantime, here are 7 little notes about my life this past week. You can read all my previous Quick Takes here.
1. Earlier this week my husband and I celebrated our 14th Wedding Anniversary! Tonight we'll be going out (sans kids) and enjoying a night of "just us" time! I'm so excited! I flipped through our wedding pics yesterday and this has always been one of my most favorite pictures...it was candid and sweet and one of those "moments"...(sorry for the quality - scanning just doesn't do it justice and the pictures have faded over the years!)...
Happy Anniversary Richy! I love you!! (click the picture to enlarge it)
2. In an effort to further trim our budget, yesterday I drastically reduced our satellite package (ie., bill) to a very basic...and I mean ultra basic package. We're going to miss a few of our favorite shows, which I think we can keep up with online!
But more importantly...most importantly, I've got to figure out if and how we can keep up with the up and coming football season...or more specifically, the Miami Dolphins. That's the thing we're going to miss the most! Any suggestions out there?
3. I cut my babies hair the other day. It nearly killed me. I wasn't supposed to cut it... my husband was the one who wanted a haircut. We set up the chair and got out the clippers kit and were all ready to go when I realized I didn't have a comb. When Richy ran in to get a comb, Christian climbed up on the chair and asked for a hair cut.
I hesitated. I asked was he sure. He was insistent...and excited about it...see?
I love those beautiful almost white blonde curls. I mean, they make my heart squeeze tight...and that grin... I can't get enough! But, he's quickly approaching 4 years old and I figured...okay, a haircut is not unreasonable. But when I got done...he was sad....
he wouldn't even look at me...
and all I had left was this...
Let's just say...we both cried. A lot. Do you want a little unsolicited advice from this mother of 5? Never ever give your baby boy an unplanned spur-of-the-moment haircut. Especially if you're pregnant. And hormonal. And extremely emotional. Just don't do it!
4. I told you a couple of weeks ago that our life was a bit crazy at the time. We had no beds, no dressers, no washer or dryer. Well, I'm happy to report that things are looking up...sort of. We still live in the rental house (read here and here), but we went to our other house and got all of our stuff! So now we're here in a rental house...with all of our own things!
The thing I most happy about (other than a bed to sleep in is that I have my beautiful huge red couch!! Okay, so maybe after having it for 4 years with 5 kids it's not quite as beautiful as when we got it, but it's mine and I love it! {insert picture here...except I can't find a good one!}
5. On the same topic, we have about 7000 boxes to sort through. Okay, so it's not 7000, but man, you never know how muchjunk stuff you have until you pack it all into boxes and stack it in a couple of rooms. We completely emptied our house (see #1) and the shed at that house...and it was a lot more stuff left there than we thought! Man, oh, man, do I have some paring down to do! I'd show you pics, but I'm too ashamed...maybe next week!
6. While going through our boxes and boxes and boxes...I found a set of 8 wine glasses that we were given when we got married. We don't drink wine. Ever. After thinking about it...we've moved 8 times...8 times in 14 years of marriage. Eight times I've packed up those very pretty wine glasses and made sure they were well padded and moved them to a new house. Eight Times!!! And we've never used them. Not even once. Probably never taken them out of the boxes. So where are they now??
They are here...on eBay. It's crazy to keep lugging these glasses around year after year. Crazy, I tell ya! So, after a little research, it seems this discontinued pattern sells pretty well on eBay..so I'm going to see if I can add a little $$$ to our budget by unloading these (and maybe 947 other useless things from my house) if I can find the time to write the listings!
Do any of you do creative things like this to stretch your budget when things get tight? The tighter things get around here...the more creative I find myself being!!
7. I'm going to wrap this up and start getting ready for our anniversary date {insert super excited squeal here}! I don't know yet where we're going or what we're doing (rest assured, it will be budget-friendly), but it doesn't matter. This much needed alone time with my husband will be wonderful no matter what! I hope you all have a terrific weekend!
Until next time... are you new to Adventures In Savings? Be sure to "Like" Adventures in Savings on Facebook, Subscribe to Adventures in Savings by email or follow on Twitter to get all the latest updates faster!
