Pink & Black Bridal Shower Cake

Last week I had three cake orders.  First up I did the Music Cake.  Then I did the Red Velvet Cake.  My last cake was for Saturday afternoon.

This cake was for a bridal shower at our church.  Black was a major color in the wedding along with several other bright colors.  I chose to focus on pink and decorate with tiny flowers.  I just bought a new cake "toy" last week - the Wilton Gum Paste Flowers set, so I tried it out and made these blossoms.  I love them!

I made a monogram "M" for the topper out of black gumpaste as well. 

This is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream.  I really like to pile on the icing between layers of cake.  I mean...who wants cake without icing, right?
